Well this has been quite the month for us. Last Wednesday I started getting sick. Finally by Monday I felt like I was on the mend. This is Wednesday and I am much better although I do still have a nagging headache. Not even ibuprofen will knock this headache. Enough about me. Let's talk about my little ones. So Monday we started back to a normal school schedule and all went well till Rowdy got up today. YUP! Hello, stomach bug. We got started doing school and did our verses, and the handwriting page and Rowdy said his belly was hurting. So he went to bed, then to the bathroom, then to the bathroom. You see where I am going with this. Well yesterday evening Paisley had about 5 dirty diapers in a few hour time period and really I didn't think much of it cause it wasn't loose per say. Well it sure clicked this morning. So Rowdy has laid around all day and I have monitored his temperature and changed more dirty diapers on Paisley. I really thought the sickness had went down the road and tonight we were going to get to go back to Church. WRONG! So sad but I knew he was sick when I mentioned Church and he said no way can I go. I feel like we haven't been to Church in a month and I am tired of it but we will be back and this I know. Guess what? I cant wait either!!! I wonder if people long to go to Church like we do? I really look forward to going and learning more. Oh, I can learn the Word here at home but there is nothing like hearing it explained to you and get right to the root of what God has gave us to learn. I LOVE IT! There is always Sunday and did I mention I am looking forward to it! Meanwhile back at the house Rowdy is running a low grade fever. CRUD!

Sick
Well crud!!!! I am sick! I think I have the stinking rotten flu! I thought today that I would just be better. Wrong! Now it is in my ears, nose and throat. I can't swallow without my throat hurting. Can't talk without it hurting. Now my head hurts too. It has been rather quiet around here needless to say. I made Kris get me out of the house(we drove around) today because I felt like I was stewing in my own juices here. So we turned the heater off in the house, opened a window and left. Came back after I had a good nap on the road. I didn't feel any better after all that and the house was cold. Go figure! Bah humbug to this Saturday! I guess if I am not better by Monday then I will suck it up and go to the Dr. I hate to go to the Dr especially not having insurance. So if anyone reads this please say a prayer that I get better quick! I let school slide on Thursday and Friday. By sliding I mean we didn't finish it all each day. No biggie really but if I had a sub it would have been better! HA! I am really hoping that I am better by morning so we can go to Church cause I despise missing Church. I feel so out of touch with my whole week. Like everything is not starting on the right foot. Well I think I will go and let my ear boil with peroxide then I will put some sweet oil in it and hit the sheets soon. Sorry for the whining.....not really.

Detox Bath
I took a detox bath tonight after fighting this head cold stuff all day. Yesterday I had a cough and sore throat of the evening but when I woke this morning it was bad. I went to the store this morning and grabbed several drugs and decided then that I need to try this detox bath to see if that helps. Well I went to Moms house to get in her garden tub and I dumped in 2 cups of Epsom salts, 1 cup of baking soda and about 1/4 cup of ginger. Boy, did I start to sweat. I sat in there for about 30 minutes then I put Paisley in it and she played for about 10 minutes. I got out of the tub about 6:40 and am still sweating and its 7:55. I got home and put away dinner, did some laundry and was sure I was going to pass out in weakness and hot. So I took my temperature thinking maybe I was feverish but I don't have a fever. Hopefully this helps rid me of whatever but I am not counting on it but it was rather disturbing how much it made me sweat.
I forgot to post this last night. My brain is pretty cloudy still but I think everything is lose and moving around so that's good. Not sure that the bath worked for me but it sure didn't hurt me.

School Room and some other rambles
Well we have been doing school in the dining room utilizing one end of the dining room table and really it gets pretty spread out and so then it stays and has to be shoved to one end to sit at the table to eat. So Kris has decided that I need to move the school stuff into the toy room. I have put my foot down after the whole escapade with bathroom DS that I will not move anything till there is some sort of partition put up to block view of toys. I have a feeling that I will be constantly in there making sure he isn't playing. Anyways so nothing has moved but the play room is much more clean! HA!
Paisley has decided that she likes to take an evening nap instead of an afternoon nap and she wont go to sleep till we drive around. Tonight I took off and drove through the "hood" and then went towards town and got to the four way stop and looked back and she was crashed! Completely gone. I drove up and around by the cemetery and said Hi to Dad and then came on back home. We visit his grave once per week. I assume that will taper off because I never see anyone else visiting their loved ones but I sure like to go and see his pretty headstone with his handsome face on it. It is a good reminder of his face.

We have been doing family fun nights on Tuesday nights and it is a lot of fun. We end up playing A LOT of board games and I must say that I am not getting any better at Yahtzee. I find that game rather confusing. I want to complete them in order of the sheet and not think about it much more than that but that isn't the name of the game. I guess that is just the blonde coming out. I rock at Connect Four though and am pretty good at pick up sticks. You know those no brainer games.

Paper Rater....
I found a FREE online site that you can use for a grammar check......cha ching! I bet this will be fun. It will probably irritate me so much and confuse me cause it doesn't "get me" that I will just quit blogging but I am going to give it a whirl. Stay tuned for less confusion....errr maybe!

Quiet....not Quite.
Apparently I have been needing Quite time not Quiet time. Yeah, I am goofy and didn't even notice. Darn it I need grammar check. Thanks Shanna for pointing this out of me. So until next time when I need a quiet time which will probably be quite sometime away! HA!
I got a laugh out of it but I really do need to do better. There is always next time. :)
Fail
It's one of those days or hey even one of those weeks. We have done school for hours on end and no that isnt an issue but the fighting to get things done is the issue. He is understanding things fine but he doesnt want to do any of it. Today he was writing his spelling words four times each and it took almost 2 hours cause he procrastinated the whole way through it. Meanwhile here is MY fail. On Monday during school Rowdy started going to the bathroom A LOT during school. I just assumed he was going and doing his business although sometimes he would take forever to poop. Anyways I would yell (Yes, yell. That's the kind of person I am when at my wits end) "Hurry up and POOP!" So this goes on for Monday, Tuesday and then started the day off with doing it too. Let me lay the scene out for you for today. I tell him that he has to write each spelling word 4 times each. He whines no, not 4 times. I say ok how about 6 times each. He says ok fine 4 times each is what I'll do. So then after about 30 minutes of writing a few of the words he goes into the bathroom. Meanwhile I am doing this and that and I yell hurry up and poop. So he reappears about 10 minutes after my yelling. So then he works on the words some more and about another 30 minutes go by and off to the bathroom he goes. Well this time I decided to see what the deal was instead of yelling at him. Well guess what I see when I walk into the bathroom. My little boy sitting on the pot playing his Nintendo DS game. Plugged in and charging so conveniently while he "Poops". Well I grew up with the phrase(I will clean it up) "Poop or get off the pot" Well I explained that phrase to my beloved little boy today. I also took the DS away for weekdays and it can only be played on the weekends and NEVER to be played in the bathroom nor charged in the bathroom. Really why did it take me to Wednesday to figure this out? I am so slow! The crazy kid has a weird stomach and so I really thought he was pooping. So mind you when I discovered he was playing his DS my Mom walked in the house and got to witness the whole scene. I was really close to throwing the DS away. I was so peeved about it. Happy School week here at the Lemley's.
I wonder if anyone else has these crazy shenanigans going on at their homeschool?

Sickies, grouchies and piggy tails.
Paisley started getting sick on Wednesday and ran a fever for 24 hours. We didn't attend Church on Wednesday since she was sick. Kris had to work late on Wednesday night so we had to get someone to fill in for our AWANA class. Then late yesterday she got better but I started feeling yucky. Ending up puking up my toenails. Well I heaved enough that they should have came up but they are still there. I then went to bed to toss and turn most of the night. I haven't been running a fever and after getting whatever off my belly have been fine since. Paisley is better but after nap it takes her a bit to snap out of the fog. She is eating again and making up for not eating on Wednesday. Hopefully no other person in the house gets it. Meanwhile I had cabin fever due to not leaving the house since Tuesday but I got out today and went to Hobby Lobby. It was nice to look around and not be in a hurry. We also went to Payless shoes and found Paisley some black dress shoes for Church. She has black boots but really needed some plain black dress shoes. They are sparkly and cute. She will probably grow out of them next week. She grows fast whereas Rowdy wears things for 2-3 years before outgrowing them. Funny how different each child is. I finally was able to take time and get Paisley's hair into piggy tails today. It looks so cute! I have tried before but she really wouldn't sit still so a simple straight up(fountain) pony tail was simplest. I am in love with the piggy tails though. Here is a picture of her. She isn't very happy about getting the picture taken and my lens was smudged so its not the best picture but she still looks darling to me.
Now that this picture is so big I see that I need to vacuum. There is always tomorrow or Monday. I did rearrange the living room yesterday and vacuumed everywhere before moving stuff to its new spot's but today it is needed again. Vacuuming is really a need to do daily thing around here. So is sweeping. I need to get better at sweeping after each meal. It would be much better. I also cleaned the stove top up. I didn't know till recent that you could lift up the top(where the burners are) and clean under there. Over the summer I boiled something over and it made a mess and I didn't know how to clean under there and I tried sucking stuff out but it didn't work. Now I know. So I did that and then I turned the self cleaning feature on and opened a few windows up and enjoyed the 64 degree weather we had. Only in Arkansas can it be 64 in January and well it'll probably snow tomorrow! HA! I'll take 64 over snow any day though.
Have a good weekend!

Date Day
We had a date day (few hours anyway) today. It was nice. Mom watched the kids and we headed out to some pawn shops. We are looking for a small gun anyways stopped at a gunsmith shop in Siloam and found a small gun for $189 but not really what we are wanting. So then we decided that we would go to the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center to the gun show but the line was out the door and almost to the end of the building so we decided we didn't want to do that. So we looked at a few more pawn shops and then headed back home. All in all it was a nice day together and we did a lot of driving and talking. We didn't find a small gun but we were just starting our search.
So Paisley has been really hateful to Kris since he started growing out his beard. So much so that when he comes home from work she would only glare at him, she wouldn't hug him, kiss him, sleep close to him and well wouldn't come near him even. So yesterday he shaved it off and all was back to normal. She once again loves her Daddy. I hadn't really thought about it but she wouldn't even go over to him while sleeping she would stay snugged up against him before "the beard" but since "the beard" she has slept right by me. Well last night after he shaved it was back to normal. She snuggled with me like normal and it wasn't long she was inching over to Daddy. Daddy was quite happy about having his baby girl close again.

Pinterest Fail
Today I made translucent powder for either over your foundation or just as is. Anyways I used 1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1/8 tsp cocoa, and 1/4 tsp of baby powder. The recipe calls for 1 tsp of the baby powder but I didn't use quite that much. I got it all mixed up. I also added a wee bit more cocoa to get more color. I then put on my face and about 20 minutes later my face itched like mad. FAIL!
Fire Department
So a few weeks ago I contacted one of the volunteers on the Decatur Fire Department and asked if we could bring them cookies for Christmas. Well they had already had their meeting for December the day before I called so I opted for their January Meeting. It wasn't entirely a Christmas thing more of a Appreciation for their voluntary work. There are 12 men on the fire department and I know all of them and even went to school with most of them or went to school with their kids. That's a great thing about living in a small town. Anyways I really want Rowdy to have a giving heart and be appreciative of people that do stuff that maybe has never and Lord willing never will effect us. They take time away from their families to save other families and most of the time putting themselves at risk to do that job. I appreciate that and I hope that after tonight and Rowdy meeting these "real" people that he will appreciate them. Every day I wonder if I am doing things right with my kids and not have them take things for granted because that is so easy. I know that I take too many things for granted and I assume that they probably do too even at their young ages. Rowdy is pretty excited and curious about these guys because he assumed that they worked at the Fire Department and lived there. So after some explaining that they don't live there and that they have families and jobs that they tend to daily he is pretty excited about going. He even pitched in and scooped all the cookies.
So far so good on most all my goals for 2013. Except the exercise. I cant get excited about exercise in the house and being outside when its cold. I should be out there now since it is sunny but alas I am waiting on a batch of cookies to be done. Kris and Mom like chocolate chip cookies minus the chocolate chips. I must say they are good but not helping me lose weight either.

January 1, 2013
Well I cant believe the new year is here. I have been thinking a lot about different aspects of my life that I need to work on. I am not going to disclose those things but I am hoping that I can making these changes that are needed. Somethings are just improvements. Strengthen things so to speak. As for day 1. I did absolutely nothing, notta, nope not a thing. It was kind of nice. Well I take that back I did cook breakfast here at the house but I didn't clean up. Then we went to Mom's and had a Duck Dynasty Marathon and smoked ribs, made coleslaw and fried taters. There I cut the cabbage for the slaw, peeled and chopped taters and threw them in the skillet and that was pretty much it. Most of us did a whole lot of nothing today and boy was it nice. Tomorrow is back to reality. We are not starting school but we have to get this house righted and ready for school to start back on Monday. Tomorrow we start back to AWANA and I have to get ready. I did a few things on break but I didn't get them all done. I still have to finish the poster boards with the verses on it. It is not easy to write big, not cursive, and neat. I am terrible at this.
Meanwhile I am totally fascinated by homesteading blogs. Yeah, it is very strange...foreign almost to me that people want to go from having electricity in their house at their finger tips 24/7 to solar power and oil lamps. I am not at all fascinated on living with no running toilets, showers, sinks, washers/dryers. I am however truly fascinated that they grow, can, kill most all that they eat. Goats for milk, chicken for eating and for eggs, huge gardens, fruit trees, a more simple life if you will with very little or no money spent at the store. Now do I want to buy a 5 gallon bucket and this huge plunger thing and start washing clothes....errrr NOPE. I hate doing the laundry as of now and I just have to toss into the machines. I would really have an outrageous laundry room if I had to plunge stuff. So in saying all this I am ready to start planting a HUGE garden and some fruit bearing trees. Mom thankfully has decided that we should grow a big garden at her house and so we are going to start hunting for soil to work with now and I have a list already of what we are going to maybe grow. Meanwhile I guess I'll just read some more blogs. I am always fascinated on how people live. I am not sure if people will believe this but there are stranger people out there than ME! HA!! I find it rather fascinating and I am learning along the way. No worries I don't plan to throw pee out the window anytime soon to lower my bills and be more off grid. My neighbors will be thankful since their front door is out my window! bahahahahaha. I have decided to be a bit more self sufficient if at all possible this year and years to come.
